Things to do in Tucson when you’re 30-something

30-something, flirty sometimes & partying always — there’s plenty for night owls to do in Tucson, Arizona. From dinner dates at trendy restaurants to happy hours hosted with live music and DJs, this desert city is calling you to grab a babysitter and get ready for a hangover! Here are some things to do in Tucson when you’re 30-something.

The Delta

Get ready for some damn good DJs! The Delta is hosting “Delta Late Night” every Friday from 10 p.m. to close. Stop by to hear local DJ mixes and sip on $4-7 late-night specialties. Other can’t-miss Delta favs are a seafood boil every Tuesday at 4 p.m., “Keep Tucson Vinyl” live music every Thursday, a late-night burger menu, and “Nighthawks” happy hour specials from 10 p.m. to close. 

HighWire

If your night on the town is going to be a late one, be sure to hit up Tucson’s home of molecular mixology. Music and beat lovers will love the vibe at this premier cocktail venue in the heart of downtown. HighWire offers live music on Fridays from 7-9 p.m., Bingo and Trivia every other Wednesday at 7 p.m., and Sunday Brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There’s always something happenin’ at HighWire! 

Bumsted’s

Have you visited the “Hippest Restaurant in Tucson?” Bumsted’s has a new location on Stone Ave. with the vibrant atmosphere that your night out is begging for. Enjoy karaoke night Wednesday-Sunday, Monday night football, Tuesday night comedy open mics, and drag shows on the first and third Sunday of every month. Bring your adult sense of humor and munch on the delicious American classics on the menu.

Century Room

Featuring local and national musical acts, Century Room at Hotel Congress is a live music hub. Jam out Thursday-Sunday nights while sipping on ancestral small-batch mezcals, craft cocktails, regional beer, and wine. Check out their website for a full calendar of events. 

The Loft Cinema

Is a quiet night of cinema more your style? As a member of the Sundance Institute’s Art House Project, The Loft Cinema screens all of your favorite classics, indie, foreign, horror, sing-a-longs, and more. You never know what might be on the big screen at The Loft, so keep your eyes on the “Coming Soon” list so you never miss your favs. Also at The Loft: The Rocky Horror Picture Show. A Loft Cinema tradition for over 40 years, fans of the film sing along as people reenact the classic movie while it plays on the big screen.

The Moonstone

Need a great view of the desert city to put a pep in your step? The Moonstone is a bar perched atop the 14th floor of the Graduate hotel. Boasting fire pits, a rooftop pool, adult Capri Suns, and jello shots, The Moonstone is your one-stop shop for a happy hour buzz and a beautiful lookout to set the mood. Here’s a quick peek at the upcoming schedule: 

  • Every Thursday through the end of the year: live DJ set from local artist, Jason E. 

  • Every third Tuesday through November: live DJ set from Honeycomb

  • Every other Wednesday through December: live music from local artist, Adam Townsend 

The Monica

The Monica in downtown Tucson serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and brunch … but that’s not all! Tune in for Tucson Tuesdays™ on the second Tuesday of every month. The Monica will feature one or more of its local partners to showcase talented local Tucsonans —  from craft and micro food makers to artists, artisans, and more. You should also pop by for “Happier Hours” from 3-6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Red Light Lounge

Located in The Downtown Clifton, this posh lounge offers regional beer, wine, spirits, and contemporary Tucson cuisine. The bar slings some of the tastiest cocktails, and did we mention they are $10 and under? Stop by for some city vibes, classy food and drink, and live music by Mike Tanzillo every other Saturday. 

Short Rest Tavern

Adventure awaits at the Short Rest Tavern, located inside the Tucson Mall. Picture this: the variety of beers you’ve always dreamt of, cider, mead flights, and 600+ board games for you to play. Yes, you read that right — you can hit up the Short Rest Tavern to drink yourself silly while challenging your friends to whatever board game your heart desires. Stop by for Dungeons & Dragons nights on Wednesdays and Saturdays, Friday Night Trivia, and Jack Box games on Sundays. Stay tuned for “House of the Dragon” viewing parties coming soon.

Sullivan’s Steakhouse 

Looking for a swanky summer date night or a dinner with friends that feels more like an event? Sullivan’s Steakhouse has been serving up tasty dishes paired with seasonal cocktails at their special pairing dinners. So far this summer, Sullivan’s has hosted a tequila and bourbon pairing event, complete with four courses and complementing cocktails. Their next pairing dinner is on September 29 and will feature a menu created around vodka-based cocktails.

The Shelter

Should we remind you of this Tucson staple? The Shelter Cocktail Lounge is Tucson's only 60's retro lounge, featuring classic and modern martinis and cocktails. Open until 2 a.m. with happy hour from 3-7 p.m., seven days a week, and nightly cocktail specials — The Shelter is like that childhood best friend who you can always rely on (and is really good at getting you drunk).
